L
and & Marine Engineering Limited is a leading
engineering and construction company that
designs and delivers large and small-scale
projects and services internationally, thus
helping to shape a better environment in which to
live.
Founded in 1953 and based in Bromborough
in the northwest of England, Land & Marine has
been overcoming the toughest engineering and
construction challenges within a wide business
portfolio that includes energy, power and process
plant, storage tanks, pipelines and trenchless
technology, as well as its traditional marine business.
Land & Marine is a wholly-owned subsidiary of
J. Murphy & Sons Limited – a leading multi-disciplined
engineering and construction company with a rich
heritage of safe, innovative and sustainable solutions to
the most complex infrastructure challenges.
Recently completed or ongoing oil and gas
pipeline projects include:
F
Luanda, Angola – working with its client PMI, the
first phase of the project involved the design,
installation and testing of twin 20 in. x 800 m
long pipelines offshore to a new 250 000 dwt
tanker CBM. An anchored multi-cat was used to
install the PLEM and pipelines. The pipelines were
flooded and tested in April 2015. Once a new tank
farm, onshore berth and access channel have been
dredged, the pipelines will be repositioned and
the second phase is scheduled to take place in
2016.
F
800 t linear winch build – currently completing
the assembly and commissioning of two new
800 t linear winches. The structural frame is of
modular design and innovative handling systems
have been incorporated to allow the wedges to
be withdrawn for socket passing without the need
to remove the grip box lid. This is a major advance
in linear winch technology.
F
Harrowside outfall – design and
installation of a 1 km long, 2.1 m dia.
PE outfall is underway near Blackpool
in northwest England. This fast track
project is scheduled to be completed
at the end of September 2015.
F
Barrow Terminals Project – work
has been completed on the Barrow
Terminals Project, which involved
the construction of a 900 mm dia. x
25 mm wall thickness pipeline for the
particularly complex connection of the
South Morecambe trunk line to the
North Morecambe Terminal.
Tensioning 24 in. Class 900 pipework at North Morecambe Terminal, Barrow.
