T
he government of India implemented a five‑year plan to remedy its
issues with substantial deficits on the electrical power supply because
at periods of peak demands, a lack of electrical power up to 20% had
been recognised. As an effort to satisfy current and future demands for
electrical energy, the government-owned National Thermal Power Corp. (NTPC)
adopted a multi-pronged growth strategy to set up joint ventures with state
electricity board power plants.
NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Co. Ltd (NTECL) is one of those joint ventures,
consisting of NTPC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). NTPC set up a
