Verification and validation
Performance tests were executed at the ROSEN R&D Centre in
Lingen, Germany. The new technology, onboard a 16 in. tool, for
the RoMat services were pulled through segments of pipe with
different steel grades.
The pull-test results were compared with tensile testing
results obtained from cut-out samples. The comparison confirmed
a high accuracy.
Figure 4 shows an overview of the processed pull-test
data. The test segment consisted of joints with different wall
thicknesses. Figure 4c shows the obtained measurements as
a C-Scan: colour coded amplitude per measuring point over
distance and circumference.
In-field validation results
The first ILI tool run was performed in a 16 in. natural gas pipeline
to record data and measurements for the RoMat service. In a
second step, the in-field verifications were performed for two
locations after the ILI survey in January 2014. Figure 5 shows the
results of the ILI survey. The yield strength is presented in relation
