Oilfield Technology - June 2015 - page 71

T
he current decline in oil prices is pushing oil and gas companies
to innovate in order to increase efficiency and continue to
supply the world’s long‑term energy needs. Efficient oil recovery
methods can help operators reduce lifting costs while getting at the
estimated 60 ‑ 70% of hydrocarbons left in the ground by current
drilling and production practices. The current price of oil makes it
more difficult for operators to pursue these untapped resources using
unconventional methods, but the ever‑expanding global economy
will require it. Innovative methods that lead to more efficient energy
Brian Sidle, Welltec, Denmark,
explains how ingenuity in well
intervention technology is helping
operators overcome adversity.
