Oilfield Technology - June 2015 - page 57

T
housands of new wells are being drilled each year while
thousands more are being repaired or abandoned around
the world. Remedial work is becoming increasingly
important for both E&P companies and energy services company
providers as the oil and gas industry continues to recognise
the financial and environmental impact of deteriorating wells.
Remedial work is viewed as a cost burden, and companies tend
to avoid it rather than address it, which often leads to problems
occurring or reoccurring in the future.
