ith the fourth edition
of the American
Petroleum Institute
(API) standard 2350,
the international oil industry has
acquired a comprehensive tool to
reduce risk of overfill disasters in
connection with storage of oil
products. Although this standard does
not stipulate exactly how to
implement overfill prevention, it does
give a robust framework of processes
and equipment configurations that has
to be in place. The updated standard is
a welcome modernisation that can be a
great help for terminals in their overall
work with safety improvements.
In addition to reducing overfill
risks, implementing the standard can
have positive side effects like
