          energy density, longer runtime, faster recharge time, smaller
        
        
          size, and lower weight. Using Li-ion for wireless and wired acquisition
        
        
          systems offers many advantages over older rechargeable technologies
        
        
          like sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries or nickel-based chemistries.
        
        
          This article will provide a comparison of Li-ion to lead acid batteries
        
        
          and nickel-based chemistries, and highlights the many benefits and
        
        
          considerations when using Li-ion battery technology to power devices
        
        
          that are designed to operate in extreme temperature, rugged and
