aterpillar
have launched the Cat
®
16M3 motor grader, which
– according to a company press release – features engineering
improvements that boost fuel economy, increase structural
durability, simplify maintenance, add operator convenience and
promote the safety of both the operator and those around the machine. The
16M3 is available in configurations to meet engine emissions standards
worldwide.
“The 16M3 motor grader is an essential machine for building and
maintaining mine haulage roads to keep trucks running most efficiently and at
the lowest cost per tonne of material moved,” said the company.
Latest continuous miner
The
Sandvik
MC350 continuous miner for mid-size room-and-pillar
applications is the latest edition in the company’s offering of continuous
miners. With performance that has been proven in extensive field tests in
South Africa, it offers high productivity and low cost of ownership, the
company said in a press release.
“Sandvik continuous miners, including MC250, MC430, MC470 and now
MC350, satisfy all seam conditions in room-and-pillar mines,” the company
continued. “Segmented for low-, medium- and high-seam applications, the
continuous miners are all equipped with the functions expected to ensure
maximum productivity, reliability and minimum cost for any seam.”
“By using Sandvik continuous miners, our customers benefit from more
cost‑efficient operations,” said Bruno Reumueller, Product Line
Management, Underground Coal and Minerals at Sandvik Mining. “Thanks
to a higher weight class, shear-up capability and loading and conveying
modules, our continuous miners can improve productivity by 10 – 20%
compared to other continuous miners in their range. In addition, extended
operating time between overhauls and a cost per ton that is equal or better
than other continuous miners make this a very attractive offering.”
The MC-series continuous miners are built using quality parts, rugged
structural components and a robust gearbox. Semi‑automated and with a
higher weight class, they also offer a higher cutting rate and quicker loading
time. The company’s continuous miners can also be fitted with a proximity
detection system to improve safety. A health monitoring function ensures
advance warning of any problems before they arise.
New mining tyre
Michelin Earthmover
has introduced a new mining tyre for 250 short t rigid
dump trucks: the Michelin
®
XDR250 50/80R57.
The tyre, which is developed to fit Caterpillar 793F and Komatsu 830E AC
models, can increase hauling productivity by at least 24% (based on ton
miles per hour) and increase the amount of material carried per hour, the
company said in a press release.
The new tyre is Michelin Earthmover Management System (MEMS)
ready and features: larger load capacity – greater than 22.6% compared to
the Michelin XDR2 40.00 R57; lower operating temperature; faster driving
speed; higher level of performance for better productivity; and extended life
cycle. It also has a new tread pattern that incorporates smaller rubber blocks
crossed by grooves to optimise airflow and cooling. It contains an additional
9.2% in air volume.
“Rigid dump trucks are the lifeblood of opencast mining operations.
These tyres need to deliver maximum productivity, safety and durability to
eliminate downtime,” said Jamey Fish, Director of Earthmover Marketing
for Michelin North American. “This tyre carries a 67 short t nominal load
capacity at a faster speed with a longer life cycle. Michelin is delivering
solutions that can increase mine profitability through lower operating
costs.”
According to the company, the new
Cat 16M3 motor grader delivers greater
fuel efficiency and power, as well as
providing enhanced durability, safety and
operator convenience.
